revered swedish producer sebastian mullaert releases his first exclusive vinyl on default position after the huge success of his remix to vedanta in 2014. sebastian first made his name as one half of the acclaimed duos minilogue and son kite, but in recent times focuses on his solo career, which sees him appearing at clubs and festivals all over the world and releasing on some of the industry s most respected labels and imprints. samunnati is a brand new double vinyl ep featuring four original mixes from mulleart, with remixes from fellow swedish duo johanna knutson & hans berg, belgium s danieli and label founder joseph s. joyce. its genesis lies in a melody recorded live on sebastian s roland sh101 which has been resampled and processed in many different ways, offering several contrasting mixes to suit many different tastes and styles.

flesh world is a dream punk group formed in the summer of 2012 in san francisco. the quartet includes scott moore (guitar, synths) jess scott (vocals, guitar) andrew luttrell (bass, backing vocals) sam lefebvre (drums). jess and scott met while loitering around the panhandle district, listening to records, gossiping, and playing live shows around town with their bands (scott plays in hardcore group limp wrist and jess played in the indie pop band brilliant colors).

dj harrison is richmond va-based producer and multi-instrumentalist devonne harris. the son of a radio dj who introduced him to the world of record collecting, harris grew up with music, progressing from violin, to high school drum-line, to the jazz studies program at virginia commonwealth university. he also continued working with other instruments and developed an interest in sampling. his development as a producer at first, without a computer or sampler came first learning to replay samples on the drums, piano, bass or guitar. dj harrison finds himself inspired by local musicians in the richmond scene thats as diverse and nonexclusive as they come. among rappers, producers, punks and bluegrass bands, he falls within reach of an expansive pool of musicians to collaborate with. he lives and works in jellowstone, a house turned recording compound occupied by his band mates in butcher brown, a garage punk jazz funk group. hazymoods, dj harrison’s stones throw debut, was recorded there completely on tape, where the living room functions as a communal recording studio

this is my best album for sure, says todd. we cant be exactly sure on that one, all three albums from todd bodine have been great. forms however, is perhaps the most complex and mature album that the berlin producer and dj has accomplished to date. and its also out with us! todd has worked at full speed over the last six months to bring us this fine piece of work. as a dj playing around the world and as a producer in the highest ranks of consistency, todd bodine has constantly developed as an artist. releases and remixes on respected labels, and collaborations with various artists have made him an internationally popular electronic musician. in 2007 he finally began to perform as a live act, and what club would better fit todds new live premiere than the panorama bar in berlin!? todd shows with forms, his innate knowledge of the two sides of electronic dance music. this is a meeting of peaktime euphoria with the relaxing bliss of the hazy morning light. a meeting of hypnotic natural rhythms and driving cut-up sounds. todd can impress you with dancefloor bombs and also with his sophisticated sound visions. the sound of detroit would probably be the best comparison.

lee burton is the next artist on raum musik and this is his first single for our label. lee is hailing from greece and we were quite happy to receive some demo tracks of him, as he caught our attention already a while ago. his productions are more house related, but always with a nice, modern twist. his powerful sound and also his very well structured sound design could easily be described as his signature and it s definitely worth keeping an eye on him.

matter of the heart! district 66s co-owner clark davis established with the labels 3rd ep a symbiosis of the past, present and future. the a1 and b1 reduced and functional original tracks are remixed by two of davis respected producers. in the late 90ies, alexander kowalski was one of the key artist which influenced him and still remains with his very own signature sound. nowadays state-of-the-art markus suckut reflects with his minimalism and on the point grooves the artistic present and future of davis definition of techno.

first ep of the label lowlife cartel. dissociative tones, texture of the sound and atmosphere sought here, more than melody. no boundary in genre but same sonic ethos. the two sides of the ep includes two tracks ambient/downtempo fitting with patient listening. three other, lofi tracks, and more efficient to play into clubs. face a starts with -nerve splicing- by telekommunist, also known as wpx7, face covered and steps muffled through a deadening blizzard of tape saturation and white noisey envelops that find a balance between deepening the sense of immersion and a retained groove. -kairu- by a. latif, affiliated to the experimental and elusive russian label john s kingdom. an arsenal of textures are employed, surrounded all the time by different kind of breeths carving out a growingly satisfying contrast between the shivery charm of its melodic line and the roughness of its elements. a rough diamond. face b, -kfs-, by vslds (present on the next cousin carl release, after kinway and voyd) is a delusional and abstract piece of lofi hip hop. setting skittish drums and heavily altered rapper vox sample, smothered against a grey-ish canvas of blurry, washed-out pads. this feels both playful and unhealthy. -gotta go fast-, by paul santangelo (venetian causeway), is marked with the very personal style of this artist who does his way across the ever effervescent lofi techno scene. the round, drag-shed bass, fits with an introspective melody and atmosphere. -every man has a woman who loves him-, by loophie (raw russians), surprises the listener at the end of the disc with a lofi house track sampled from john lennon, very effective in club. the czech lofi house videomaker moskalus edited a video of it on his youtube channel. 5 artists to follow.

the story of the great roots reggae harmony trio black uhuru is one defined by many unexpected twists and turns. in its best known form, led by michael rose and with founding member duckie simpson and the black american female vocalist, puma jones, the group would enjoy the greatest popularity of any act in the wake of bob marley’s untimely death in 1981, but the origins of the group lay in the turbulent waterhouse district during the mid-1970s. duckie first formed the group as uhuru, the swahili word for unity, with garth dennis as lead singer and don carlos to join him in harmony, after cutting an adaptation of the impressions’ “romancing to the folk song” at dynamics, “time is on our side” at randy’s for clive chin, and “slow coach” for raymond “benno” anderson, dennis drifted into the wailing souls and don carlos went solo, leading duckie to recruit rising waterhouse vocalist michael “tony” rose as lead singer, and errol nelson from the jays for harmony. their debut album, love crisis, was produced, voiced and mixed at king tubby’s studio by prince jammy and remains and outstanding example of jammy’s roots reggae production phase. the song “hard ground” vamps on a similar theme to marley’s “talking blues”: rose sings of a life of everyday hardship, with destitution and homelessness the pervading factors. on the extended dub portion and dub the instrumental cuts that follow the alternate vocal take of this enthralling 12-inch ep, you can hear the non-standard instrumentation that helps make the work so innovative, with winston wright’s harpsichord melody emphasising the hopelessness of rose’s emotive lyrics, the commanding rhythm and understated bass and guitar from robbie shakespeare and chinna smith completing the picture.

roots vocalist barry brown has an inimitable style that has long made him a favourite of reggae enthusiasts. drawing from the popular phrasing of horace andy, but morphing it into his own delivery through the kind of wordless slurring that occasionally resembles the sound of a quacking duck, brown found his way into the jamaican music scene through the many amateur west kingston talent contests of the early 1970s, along with fellow aspiring talents such as johnnie clarke, sugar minott and the african brothers, and the mighty diamonds. he also honed his vocal skills on local west kingston sound systems such as tape tone, together with other young dancehall-oriented youth such as barrington levy, sammy dread, roy taylor and tristan palmer. there are still conflicting claims as to who was the first to record brown, with production veteran bunny ‘striker’ lee and sugar minott among the contenders, but in any case, during the late 1970s and early 1980s, he produced a range of captivating work for various producers, much of which is rightly coveted today. ‘ital rock’ appeared on barry’s 1983 lp i’m still waiting, issued by rocktone international, a spin-off of sugar minott’s black roots outfit, based in queens, new york (with a further branch in toronto), the b-side has dean fraser’s previously unreleased electrifying saxophone cut, rescued from dub plate obscurity by jah fingers.

respected parisian producer dj deep debuts on kerri chandler s kaoz theory with four rhythmic house tracks. one of the most important protagonists to emerge from the french house and techno scene, dj deep s status is unquestionable. at the helm of deeply rooted, the reputable label owner has signed and released numerous timeless cuts from the likes of ben klock, francois x, roman poncet, kerri chandler, and many more. meanwhile, his return to production in recent years has seen him appear on a variety of credible labels, such as rekids,tresor and l.i.e.s. inaugurating the release,thai fades in gently using subtle field recordings and organic drums before introducing piercing stabs and serene pads, making way for the firm kicks and open hats of tuesday record shopping in paris as soaring atmospherics and various intricate elements come into effect. the mesmerizing guardian is next, with its low-slung groove and compelling rhythm, until cavalier drums concludes the release by rolling out complex percussion from start to finish.

cosmic bridge welcomes yet another new talent to the roster: uk producer jordan parsons aka crypticz, who for the past few years has been distilling influences from drum & bass, dubstep, and footwork into a deeply personal sound. following eps and singles for different music, inflect audio, and doc scott’s own 31 records, crypticz delivers a personal, emotive release for cosmic bridge. forever was put together over the past year by om unit and crypticz — with the label boss inviting parsons “to take more risks and guiding him into the fog.” as a result the ep offers a distilled, more refined take on the dub aesthetic that has powered the young producer’s music to date.

mattes schwarz started djing in 1982 at age twelve, inspired by, as many west-german kids, the gi-djs of the roller skating rinks around us army bases. while he got heavily involved in cologne’s bmx scene of the 90s, he never really stopped, and during the main years of being known as stecken-mattes and playing there each friday night, he coincidently lived in magazine record’s homebase, north- eastern cologne’s old harbour. one day after stecken’s closure had sent restructuring ripples through the city - i imagine him getting up in the morning and taking a deep breath - he decided to send magazine a few tracks. “i don’t know” is mattes schwarz’ first release.

georgex brings a poised balance and combination to his tracks of melancholic sounds over more aggressive beats. the titles reflecting a journey that took him to musical places unimagined in his studio beforehand. music is the pathway to his dreams while sunny days in greece also inspire certain feelings in his sound. emotionally charged the bridge features spacious zitar lines and emotive strings that send you upward while the rough and ready groove keeps your feet on the ground. in my dream sprinkles a lighter more airy atmosphere over the dance floor drawing the listener in to it s hypnotic spell.

the fourth release from gardens of gods imprint sodai is the barcelona based, egyptian dj and producer raxon with his &#8203,,,detla ep&#8203,,. a trend-setter, the former-architect exhibits a cogent production style making him an fitting addition to the label. a special track for raxon, &#8203,,detla was created en route to cape town for a big festival. i thought i would need to make some changes after the show, as is often the case, but the track worked, so i left it exactly as it is in its first original arrangement&#8203,,. &#8203,,which any producer will know is rare&#8203,,. the ep kicks off with an enticing intro, growing layer by layer with a detailed arrangement of ethereal synths and minimalistic percussion. a full breakdown mid-track leaves you craving more, before the final drop in all it’s stomping glory. on the flipside, &#8203,,jungle express &#8203,,features a hastier intro and a balearic-inspired drum pattern. a siren hooks you in as it drops into a bass-ridden techno roller. raxon &#8203,,has &#8203,,received critical acclaim east of the mediterranean, boasting best dubai dj in 2013/14 by time out dubai. developing and collaborating, raxon has continued to develop his career working with imprints and artists including ellum and diynamic. catching the eye of tastemaker john digweed, raxon has featured as a special guest on his transitions radio show twice cementing his place in the techno scene.

richard vergez launched the night foundation project with little fanfare in 2016, with several tracks and a new artist page appearing inconspicuously late at night in the uk time zone. with him already being a part of the lobster network - producing the iconic collages that burnished the stellar raw mt richard’s revenge and hedge maze kerb hits releases - it wasn’t long before lobster theremin’s jimmy asquith became literally the 12th play of these new tracks via the usual social media algorithmic attraction.

for the third installment of the ftp series, the tracks twist into darker genre territories. the compilation opens with psygnosis, a nine minute acidic techno stormer beaming from the pineal gland of the reclusive new zealand artist matthew brown. the track starts out with a simple hook, building intensity towards a crescendo of raining acid lines and 808 hi hats which resemble unsheathing swords, twisting form into hypnotizing insanity. on the b side, draveng unleashes some comic mischief with isogamous skoliosapien, a frantic rave tune bursting out of the seams with jazzy drum hits and frantic chord stabs. it would be a good soundtrack for phantasms to dance to in a haunted place. closing out the ep is the propulsive electro missile nonstop, a track that whips into the air and spins like a jet powered boomerang. it is is the first release from the finnish cyber-phreek sansibar. expect more to come from him in the very near future

copenhagen’s echocord colour returns this august with stephen brown’s ‘power factor’ ep, featuring three originals from the uk techno stalwart. scottish producer stephen brown is a name synonymous with techno across the globe having been releasing material since the mid nineties on imprints such as derrick may’s transmat, subject detroit, skudge records, ben sims’ theory and holland’s djax up beats amongst many more. here we see brown join the roster of echocord’s sub-label colour, slotting him in alongside the likes of mike dehnert, nick ho&#776,,,ppner, luke hess and deadbeat in the back- catalogue. up first on the release is ‘sandtext’, a stripped-back dubbed out opening cut fuelled by a robust kick and minute percussive hits running alongside a sturdy sub bass drive and spiralling dub stabs before ‘wet’ takes things even deeper via muted kicks, shuffling shakers and delayed synth chords. ‘back stroke’ then rounds out the release with an amalgamation of airy reverberated stab hits, rumbling low end pulsations and a thunderous kick drum to once again create an understated, hypnotic composition.

after the creation of computer disco lp (1982), marcello giombini produces the year after i adore commodore - computer music flash, which was mainly made with a commodore 64. giombini was a veteran of music applications with personal computer, started with an apple ii europlus and then converted to the commodore 64 thanks to the presence of 3 independent music generators that allowed him to make more elaborate music easier. the record was inspired by the videogames of the time, so that the titles of the 10 tracks are inspired by the names of famous games. the music was created using four to eleven commodore 64 programmed and synchronized with an external audio interface. at the time, giombini, in his studio in a basement just a few steps from nomentana, rome, had organized a small school with courses of basic and computer music. the graphic is the same of original lp with inner-sleeve dedicated to commodore 64.

berlin-based producer, yapacc take on the original sees him transferring the song into a dancefloor-ready track whilst subtly maintaining the ambience of the original. off-beat house-esque sub-rhythms and a melodic bassline helps to keep the energy of the track moving forward, whilst the top end guitars and vocals keep the listener interest up until the very last second. russian-based dave pads remix also helps the original move onto the dancefloor with this incredibly funky, groovy-laiden back beat which simultaneously manages to hold onto the original tracks esthetical ambience. euphoric house stabs and a continuous layered texture sits behind the tracks groove, adding a sense of nostalgia and depth to an already emotive original.

rawax prouldy welcomes rhythm of paradise to the family! it happened last autumn when our label head robert drewek was traveling to bari to play a gig with his friend nico lahs. he met this very symapthic & crazy guy and felt in love with the music he showed him. so here s the result - a trip back to the 90 s - enjoy!

born in redlands, california in 1980, marquis howell grew up in a lovely way. raised to appreciate hand-me-downs, secondhand goods & older influences, he started imitating chuck berry riffs on air guitar in elementary school to impress the girls. having little to no luck with the invisible instrument & with many promises & persuasions, his parents bought him his first guitar. marquis took lessons at the local guitar shop and as often as possible he would practice 4 or more hours a day.

the cologne based techno label sector music starts with its first release from sector cologne founder kavaro and two stunning versions of his tracks from nx1 and milton bradley. kavaro started the well known event series sector more than 4 years ago and plays as well as a resident dj there. after many years organizing his events and staying behind the turntables it was time for him to make music itself. at sector he played along james ruskin, rrose, paula temple, dasha rush, ancient methods, inigo kennedy, vatican shadow and many more great artists. milton bradley from berlin played already 3 times at sector and the spanish duo nx1 played live in the first year of the event series. the new record label sector music will always have a connection to the sector events. this release will be first vinyl exclusive because kavaro is known for his excellent all vinyl dj sets and he highly supports other vinyl djs.

parrish smith has quietly been making a name for himself over these last years with releases on knekelhuis and contort yourself as well as with his projects volition immanent and sige bythos. we see him appear on l.i.e.s. in a strong fashion through four varied dense tracks. from slowbeat ebm to belgium klang to classic den hague crushers this ep forges its own path taking these cues and putting smith s unqiue spin on them. heavy yet still possessing groove and hypnotic rhythm, damage will ensue if used correctly. fresh stuff from this up and coming talent.

as noted on another release (see ropin), cornell campbell has enjoyed one of the longest-running careers of any jamaican singer, and he is blessed with a readily identifiable style too. he began his career for clement ‘sir coxsone’ dodd in 1956, when rhythm and blues held sway in jamaica, and later cut some ska songs for king edwards. he then passed through the sensations in the rock steady phase and worked as a solo singer at treasure isle, before returning to studio one with the eternals, scoring huge hits such as ‘stars’ and ‘queen of the minstrel’ as the 60s gave way to the 70s. his greatest phase of popularity was them brokered by hit-making producer bunny lee, who kept him on top right through the 1970s and into the 80s. the 1975 album dance in a greenwich farm was first issued on the grounation label in the uk. along with a re-working of ‘stars’ re-titled ‘the sun,’ a re-working of ‘queen of the minstrel’ as ‘girl of my dreams’ and the sound system opus that is the title track, the album has the boastful ‘conquering gorgon’ and a number of keenly-observed cover tunes, including a cut of the gaylads’ ‘no good girl,’ a version of the heptones’ ‘why did you leave me’ and a killer cut of the uniques’ ‘watch this sound’ (based on ‘for what it’s worth’ by buffalo springfield).

nice price deal !!! evirgen a.k.a. huseyin evirgen was born in istanbul, turkey and now lives in vienna, austria where you will often him find him either djing or performing his live sets. his study of composition and electro-acoustic music at the university of istanbul and mozarteum salzburg have left him in good stead for his creation of subtle compositions and driving flow, giving you both shakey leg on the the dance-floor and noddy head in the living room. his precisely programmed tracks tell of his insight into the functionality of music and the syntax of sounds

imbued with the energy and ideas from all the creative embers floating in the atmosphere like fireflies, shabazz palaces recorded this entire album over the course of two weeks with blood in seattle. new gear and new equipment disintegrated comfort zones into dust and a new path appeared in the rubble.

delroy wilson the original ‘cool operator’ was also known to many as ‘teacher’. a title given to him as he unselfishly taught the up and coming singers including one youth dennis brown, the art and delivery of singing technique. delroy’s rich tone to his voice added a depth to any song that he chose to sing. delroy wilson (b.1948 kingston,jamaica) began his musical career at the school that was coxonne dodd’s studio one label. after a brief stop in 1969,which saw delroy working for producer sonia pottinger’s tip top label. again producing such hits including ‘it hurts’ and ‘put yourself in my place’. the 1970’s saw delroy wilson’s arrival at bunny ’striker ’lee’s door and what would result in a winning formula,scoring hit after hit. it is from this great period in delroy’s career that we have compiled this selection of killer tunes,cut with the drum and bass rhythm kings themselves sly dunbar and robbie shakespeare.such classis as ‘who care’ ,’can i change your mind’,’get ready’,’you must believe me’ and the timeless title track to this collection ‘here comes the heartaches’. an album of great tracks cut with ‘the hitmaker from jamaica’ bunny lee and his team. a match made in heaven….enjoy the set….

d marc cantu is a don when it comes to warm, rich synth-laden house and techno, with a sprinkling of electro sprinkled over his approach for good measure. now he comes to altered moods with an album that finds him in a particularly mellow mood, not least on sultry opener -always on my mind-. there s space for experimentation, as the offbeat snare patter of -blanket statement- demonstrates, but by and large this is all about undulating house delights. -mozaic- is a particular highlight with its captivating synth design and dreamy demeanour, while -steamfunk- revels in skippy broken beats that flirt with twinkling leads and lashings of delayed bass. plenty varied but consistent in tone, this is a damn fine album from a seasoned pro.

danish composer the swan and the lake is at it again with his trademark widescreen soundscapes wrapped around eight new tracks of exquisite scandinavian balearica. with the release of his first album -moments- last year on copenhagen’s music for dreams, we were introduced to a unique artistic vision. with one foot in the ambient chill out spectrum and the other in everything from classical avantgarde, idm and jazz, the music of emil svane breum under his alias the swan and the lake is both very accessible yet complex. on his new album -clouds- we see him expand on those same ideas and with seemingly simple means achieve extraordinary strong emotions. opening side a, the jazzy intro of -fresh food- leads us into a sublime piece of hazy ambient groover that could easily be mistaken for a lost 80s production from japan. -clouds over Østerbro- keeps things playfully cool and adds elements of scat singing and xylophones, layered over breum’s shimmering bright chords. while the title suggests we are still on danish soil, this feels like a five minute vacation to a tropical paradise. guitarist johan liepstack makes a guest appearance on -summer in december- which comes off as an understated anthem that could break out into euphoria at any second, but manages to stay in a sombre state all the way through. on the track -plastic pacific ocean remake- we are visited once more by airy vangelis-like vocals which assume the role of a nurturing angel, guiding us to a comforting state of relaxation and healing, as breum lays down an overwhelmingly beautiful synth serenade with chords that hit you right at the core of your most vulnerable state. flip over for the mallorca inspired track -port d andratx- which comes in two versions - part 1 (sun) shines like a perfect escape into that cafe del mar/ hostal la torre sunset while the more deep and melancholic part 2 is aptly named rain. the gentle trickling of -waterfalls- sees breum mimic the eternal cycle of water, creating an organic and ethereal composition that stretches out seemingly without beginning or end. and finally on -heaven’s voice- we see breum in his most epic and emotional mood, as he steers us through a slow explosive force of cinematic sounds. it all ends with a heartfelt spoken word contribution by guest vocalist neonbi.
